Detox update 0
Hi guys,
Just thought I would write a quick-ish post regarding the detox. We are currently perched on day 1 of week 2. Last week we had to cut out tea/coffee as well as sweet naughty foods (2 of Nath’s vices gone in one fell swoop). This week we have to cut out dairy, wheat and meat (including fish/eggs). So far I have experimented with chickpeas and curry. Later I will get some silken tofu from Chinatown as well as some of that pretend-meat tofu that isn’t actually too bad! I’m trying to see this as an experiment, and also to see how much of a difference it will make me feel. So far I must say, I am feeling pretty good. It’s taking a lot of will-power to stay away from chocolate though. Yoghurt has been my saviour food at the moment. Mmm…. yoghurt.. Ok, it’s no Baskins, but it will do for now. Next week will be back to the same as last week, so I guess that means we will be going to some steak place for dinner next Monday? Lol!
On another note, I got a bit of a promotion at work (same work, different title, more pay) so I’m rather happy at the moment! I’ve yet to sign the contract so I don’t know how much more I will be earning but anything more has got to be a bonus. It does mean I should change my business cards but I don’t know if I will bother. No one really knows what any of the titles mean in our IT department!
Yesterday we wandered the city and saw the new Queen’s Plaza complete with Tiffany’s. I’m sorry, but I don’t think I can get caught up in the wonderful-ness that is Tiffany’s. I didn’t like the movie at all (Breakfast at Tiffany’s), although the song was ok (hard to sing with karaoke though). I just don’t get it! Anyway, I read somewhere the other day that knitting is like meditation so I thought it might be good for me to get back into it. I bought some wool and have embarked on a knitting journey to make scarves for Nath and myself. I should have them ready by next winter if my track record is anything to go by! I tend to start craft-y projects one winter, leave them over summer, and pick up again the next year. I have a big cross-stitch picture that is still 1/3 done, sitting in a corner somewhere. I really should finish that…
