5 weeks to go…  0

My supervisor at work has just left for a 5 week holiday across the world… again. Those of us left behind are a little apprehensive of the next 5 weeks especially since there is so much happening around the place at the moment but we have decided that we will prevail! I have a stash of many various herbal (and not so herbal) teas, de-stressing vitamins and essential oils (lavender for stress relief, peppermint for alertness and some ‘buzz’ scent from the Perfect Potion – definitely one of my favourite shops of all time (along with The Body Shop and Lush… I think there’s a theme here!). Have I missed anything?! Well, the alcohol is a definite no-no since the alcohol policy was implemented (Doh!). Maybe I could just play Bach over and over again to try to retain peaceful and productive thoughts instead. Ah, trusty new toy! I didn’t get to elaborate last time but after long last (and thanks to a job ‘promotion’) I have been able to buy a Creative Zen 20GB mp3 player plus a FM transmitter that I can plug into a cigarette lighter in my car. For those that don’t know, that means that I can play mp3’s from the Zen and listen to the music through the car stereo system. Very cool. Oh, and that’s right, NOT an iPod. The Zen has the ability to sync with some pc software (calendar and contacts I think) but I haven’t used that feature yet since I have bought an XDA from a friend of mine which I can sync with Outlook. I’ve gotten to the point where I can barely keep track of the next day without some assistance (or is this just another excuse to use a gadget?!)

Neutral Good Elf Bard Ranger  0

I Am A: Neutral Good Elf Bard Ranger

Alignment:
Neutral Good characters believe in the power of good above all else. They will work to make the world a better place, and will do whatever is necessary to bring that about, whether it goes for or against whatever is considered ‘normal’.

Race:
Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Primary Class:
Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.

Secondary Class:
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.

Deity:
Oghma is the Neutral Good god of knowledge and invention. He is also known as the Binder of What is Known, and is the Patron of Bards. His followers believe that knowledge reigns supreme, and is the basis for everything else that is done. They wear white shirts and pants, with a black and gold braided vest, and a small, box-like hat. All priests of Oghma are known as Loremasters. Oghma’s symbol is a scroll.

It’s a fine day for a joust!  0

Posted on July 4th, 2005. About Uncategorized.

On the weekend we went to the Abbey Tournament at Caboolture. And pray, tell me, what is this fine event? Why, tis a magical day out, wandering betwixt fair ladies and chivalrous knights, hammering smithies and dulcet harpists. Twas lucky that the dew droplets from the sky had ceased their dancing and that the sun did shine forth in all its splendour. Ok, enough now. *phew* It’s a lot of effort to remember how to talk like that!

Anyway, it has been a couple of years since my last tournament so the main things I noticed were the increase in medieval-type food and also an increase in the number of people attending. It’s also the first place I have noticed that a ‘family’ was considered 2 adults and up to 4 children at the ticket stand! There did seem to be a whole heap of kids running around with wooden axes and swords, dressed up in little costumes of armour. The best one was of a couple of kids dressed in this silver material which made them look like space-knights (one for Joss Whedon to work on perhaps?)

We were on the last day of our non-dairy, non-meat week for detox and all I wanted to have was a kransky with saurkraut from the German Sausage man there every year, and also a lamb shank that everyone seemed to be wandering around with. The middle decision was reached and I made do with the kransky. Oh, and they were selling mead there too! So I got to try honey mead as well as some hot and spicy mead, which reminded me of mulled wine. Definitely not something you want to scull in a hurry! But it was very nice.

We wandered the stalls, admiring fancy dresses and corset tops (and puffy shirts!), as well as checked out some swords. Some of them were ok – I guess the good ones must have sold out. It was funny to see a sign on a suit of chain mail saying that they had sold out but were still taking orders! After our vegetarian lunch (contrite after eating the kransky), we watched the jousting. Nice horses!

Maybe next year I might dress up… :)

We are now on the home stretch of the 3 week detox. Had steak for dinner since we had been without for a week, but it wasn’t that special. I think we really overdid it with the tofu so I never really felt like I was missing out on meat. An interesting side-note is that I have noticed a lack in cravings for bad food. We drove past KFC en route to the gym (nice juxtaposition there), and I didn’t feel like eating it at all! Usually KFC is one of those places that you just have to eat once you have smelt it so I am relieved that it no longer works like that. Now I just have to work on the chocolate cravings. I might have a way to go with that yet but I have been good so far. I miss earl grey tea though. Especially first thing in the morning at work.
