More NintendoDS…  0

Posted on January 31st, 2006. About Cooking, Geeky stuff.

I finished playing “Another Code:Two Memories” the other night. It wasn’t too bad, but like all the reviews, it was too short. Time to find another game with which to test my Nintendo on. Mario and Luigi are always good time-wasters. Someone, please let me know if I am singing the Mario theme too much. *Doo doo doo, dududududu, dudidu doo*….

I’ve started sourcing textbooks for uni already since I want to be a good uni student this year (same old ‘resolution’ I guess which usually degrades to apathy by the end of semester)! We will see how this goes…

I went to the city last weekend and browsed through Borders bookstore. Bad idea… I emerge from the bookstore 10 minutes later with some R.A. Salvatore books on Drizzt! Yay! I bought the ‘Icewind Dale Trilogy’ containing ‘The Crystal Shard’, ‘Streams of Silver’ and ‘The Halfling’s Gem’, as well as the ‘Dark Elf Trilogy’ which contains ‘Homeland’, ‘Exile’ and ‘Sojourn’. I’m pretty sure I read some of these years ago and I can’t wait to delve back into them again. I seriously had to hold myself back from buying the other collectors edition Salvatore books there. Darn you Borders! Darn you!! This temptation is too great… Anyway, I thought it would be important for me to read the Icewind Dale Trilogy as ‘research’ for our mini LAN game! It’s a shame I don’t play D&D really…

I’ve been experimenting with cooking lately. I went to Mrs Flannery’s healthfood store and bought a whole heap of lentils, chickpeas, TVP mince and spelt flour. I’m going to take it slowly though – years of non-organic foods may have taken their toll. The TVP mince wasn’t too bad when I made a spaghetti sauce. I actually mixed through beef mince with the soaked TVP and it was yummy! The other sauces and spices probably drowned any residual flavour anyway. The spelt flour is amazing since it holds its form and consistency like normal flour, but is better for you! Rice flour just wasn’t working anymore. Oh, and while I was there, I picked up some Australian Bush Flower Essences. I must say, placebo or not, they are working really well! I got the Confid Essence one, to enable me to be more assertive at work. Then again, I have been on a training course for a couple of weeks so it could just be me thinking I am confident rather than actually dealing with day-to-day things. Wasn’t there a Sound of Music song? *googling*…Yes, why yes there was. *sigh* I love Google! And yes, I have found my auto-link button in Wordpress. Very handy!

If you are looking for a totally insane German movie, check out Killer Condom . I’m sure that nearly everyone has stumbled across it at some time or other (probably late night channel flicking past SBS…). I saw it again recently at a friend’s place. It is just as funny again. I also realised that I still remembered a little of my German from high school. Especially the swear words! ;)

Happy New Year!!!  0

Posted on January 4th, 2006. About Rambling.

I hope that everyone had a happy and safe new years! We spent it playing Dungeon Siege 2 (and Singstar!!!) with some friends. Yes, there was some alcohol involved, and much use of a blender for some icy slushy goodness!!!

Oh, and I have a little puppy! :) I received a NintendoDS for Christmas along with the program Nintendogs. I have chosen a King Charles Cavalier puppy, and have named him Xander. He is soooo cute! I must admit, I spent much of Christmas/New Year trying to play with him after my family hijacked the Nintendo to feed/walk/wash Xander. Anyway, I think I received it so I would stop asking Nath if we could have a puppy. Our place is a little small and crawling with much cable. I like to think of this as responsibility practice! The game itself is pretty cool since it allows me to interact with the puppy a fair bit. I can stroke the puppy using the touchscreen and a stylus. The puppy responds fairly naturally too! The best bit is the bubble blower toy for the dog. I just blow into the inbuilt microphone and bubbles appear (to entertain the dog).

I’ve read the latest Matthew Reilly book, Seven Ancient Wonders (received for Christmas) too. It was brilliant, as usual. I almost think that he could flesh out a lot of his work to make it last even longer, but then I guess some of the fast action appeal may be lost. I think I’m still old-school about the size of my books. Bigger is better! Also, I am now the proud owner of the Firefly series on dvd. Darn you Joss! I want more Firefly gorrammit!!!

Hmmm… what else? I’ve enrolled into my subjects for uni this year (Yay!!) and tonight we went to the gym for the first time in ages. I’ve decided against making any new years resolutions since no one ever keeps to them anyway, and it will just make me feel bad when I think about not resolving anything. Instead, I have decided to take control of my life and try to be more organised, healthy, smarter (yeah, get the smarts!) and happier (read: less stressed). I’m going to do more meditation (read: start doing some) too. Just to confirm, these are not resolutions… they are just plans… wishes….erm….thingies! Yeah, thingies. Sounds less formal that way. Oh, and we are going to try and do up a roster so I can fit uni studies/language studies/gym/work/cooking/ironing/programming into a schedule with lots of pretty colours :)
