Ahem.. yes… it is study time… the time when I am most likely to web surf, do the laundry/ironing/try out that new recipe/clean the bathroom/go to the gym/watch Veronica Mars/reorganise documents/tidy up digital photos/web surf/write on my website…. It’s become a fact that I just can’t ignore or deny. I would have thought that after nearly 10 years of tertiary study (on and off, full time and part time), that I would have garnered some sort of successful study stratagem. Then again if that were the case, I would have finished my first degree 7 years ago! Oh, and high school doesn’t really count since the workload just does not compare to uni . EVER. So I have now come to accept the fact that anytime I have an assignment due or an exam pending, I must allow some extra time for what I like to call ’stress relief’. You know how it is. You open your book – you open the word document on your pc to take notes – you put on some study conducive music that will not promote too much sing-along, but just the right amount to put you in a good mood – you have your drink of choice ready within reachable distance – take a deep breath and read the first page. Before you know it, 10 minutes have passed and my goldfish-mind-attention-span has struck again and it is time for a stress relief break. I give in to this urge and potter around the abode, finding the energy to do things that I have tried to avoid (like re-organising the pantry). I look at the clock and an hour has passed… time to study again… and the cycle continues.
Anyway, during one of my stress relief breaks *heh* I stumbled across a couple of websites that I just wanted to share with friends. I found the wonderful world of food blogs (did you remember that cooking is one of my stress relief events? *wink*) and one with a wicked photo trail through Japan’s epicurious delights here . The rest of the website (http://grabyourfork.blogspot.com) is very interesting and shows some places in Sydney that I definitely want to eat at one day. Oh, and in case anyone else is interested in Iron Chef – the drinking game, look no further than here . Another food blog in Brissie is The Occasional Epicure. Yes, I know… I have gone link crazy (no I haven’t just found the shortcut!). I have one more to share with the world, in case it hasn’t been stumbled across yet. It’s about this crazy guy that eats stuff that not everyone would want to eat. It’s an article at The Sneeze called “Steve, Don’t Eat It!.. and I would take their advice Steve
Only one and a half weeks to go until I finish my job. Happy happy joy joy! Cause you know I will be spending all that free time studying… My theory is that I will be studying maybe 50% of the time. The rest of my waking hours will hopefully be spent going to the gym, finding good, healthy and cheap recipes to try out thanks to simplesavings.com.au (cause I’m gonna be a uni student again on an unknown income at this stage), playing singstar (stress relief!! Doh! I forgot to add that at the beginning), reading books on time management and on reading about 7 habits of highly effective people (not one of them listed on this blog I should think) and watching seasons 4 – 7 of Buffy. That should just about do it! There are a bunch of other things I could add, but that would just be unrealistic at this stage.
Nath and I shall be going to the opera next week to try and get a bit of culture. Should be fun and interesting. I haven’t been to one before so I’m not too sure exactly what to expect. The only ‘opera’ I have seen so far is the blue alien chicky singing in the Fifth Element. Apparently the first half of her song is from the opera Lucia Di Lammermoor (which we are seeing later on this year – taking advantage of the youth discount!). It’s amazing to hear the range and complexity of some voices!
Oops! There goes the ’study’ time.. maybe I should get Nath to block my net access. Doh!
