So after being back at work for 1 week, after being away for 4 weeks on wedding and honeymoon adventuring, I succumbed to the chicken pox. Now I have a sneaking suspicion that I caught it while we were in Japan – looks like I brought back something a little special to remember Japan by! Anyway, all in all it wasn’t pretty. It could have been a lot worse (it wasn’t shingles) but I’m sure it could have been a lot better as well. I drank lots of carrot, orange and lemon juice, straight from the juicer. I was then able to make a yummy and slightly healthy carrot cake, using the carrot pulp and substituting the oil for apple sauce. It turned out so moist and scrumptious too! All thanks to Andrew’s carrot cake recipe. Thanks Andrew!
Anyway, so I’m finally ‘back at work’ now, and trying to get back into the swing of things. I haven’t seen the ‘official’ wedding photos yet but they should be on their way soon. What I have seen so far has been very, very impressive – I can’t wait to see the rest! I’ll be sure to post some when I do.
I’d like to say that life is back to normal now as well, but after all the planning and organising from the past 12 months (more, if you count the planning involved in Heidi’s wedding), I feel like I am at a bit of a loss. Now is the time for me to pick up on all those other projects I have put off over time – half finished cross-stitch, half finished knitted/crocheted beanies, learning how to turn raw video into something watch-able etc… but my brain tells me it needs something more. I think that I will continue with some language study – maybe keep up with the Japanese and Mandarin – I’ll see how I go. Oh, and definitely go back to the gym as well, with a vengeance – now that I don’t have to do it cause I was ‘getting married’. Hehe – I’m very anti-establishment sometimes! I am trying to eat healthily now that I am getting better, but I would like to focus on fitness now too, rather than weight loss. After playing some Wii Fit over the past couple of weeks (aka stepping onto the balance board to see how much weight I had lost for that day cause I was sick!), I found it kinda nice to see the weight graph going down – even though it may have been due to dehydration
But I don’t think that is a good way to measure health – with BMI’s and weight loss/gain. So I am going to start again with the ‘Couch to 5k’ run thing, and then go onto improving my strength cause at the moment I find my wrists to be very weak, and are preventing me from doing more than 1 proper push-up (although even if my wrists were super strong, I could probably only do 3 or 4 at the moment!!). Anyway, that’s where my current mind-set is.
Oh, and I have started to use the slow cooker that we got for the wedding. I’ve made a couple of healthy stews (using up some of those 10kg of carrots that Nath bought for me the other week), which have turned out surprisingly well. I’m loving it!!
