Furi-ous cooking ahead!  0

Today we went to Indro to find a dress to wear at a wedding later on this month. Yes, I have lots of things I could wear, but I don’t think a beach-side wedding would appreciate all the dark colours I have, mostly suited to night-time events. I think that’s a flow on effect from when I used to work at David Jones all those years ago! Lots and lots of black.. Anyway, so we were out to find a dress. Now there is a danger for me to visit large shopping centres like Indro. There are so many shops that I could spend money in (and probably shouldn’t!!).

But today, I ventured into the ‘King of Knives’ and found out a lot more about knives than I knew in the past (yes, yes – shame on me… being a butcher’s daughter and all!). As a result, I am now the very proud owner of a set of Furi knives. I haven’t had a chance to use them as yet, but I will try to find an opportunity tomorrow I’m sure.

Oh, and I did find that dress.

Engrish pilots  0

Earlier this week, I was talking to my mum about a friend of mine who I recently ‘bumped’ into on Facebook. I was telling her that her husband was a pilot, and mum asked me what kind of pilot he was. Now mum doesn’t really know that much about the airline industry, and the types of aircraft etc, so I was a little confused…
‘What do you mean ‘what kind of pilot’?', I asked
‘The one that flies a plane or the one on a ship’, she said….
‘The one who is on a ship?!???’
‘They steal things from ships’
Ooooohhh…. a Pirate! Pi-rrrrate. Yeah, I meant the first one…

The Mikado in Brisbane!  0

In going with the theme of having a cultural year, we have seen the opera ‘The Magic Flute’ and the comic opera by Gilbert and Sullivan, ‘The Mikado’, in the past couple of months. Both were very entertaining, and gave us a chance for a good night out, with lots of laughs.

Tonight we saw ‘The Mikado’ at the Lyric theatre. When we made the booking, I did not realise that there would be a couple of famous comedians (Colin Lane (from Lano and Woodley) and David Collins (from the Umbilical Brothers)) as some of the main characters. The show really drew in the crowd by getting everyone involved, whether it was clapping, or laughing at in-jokes referring to politics, movies and even themselves (in the case of the comics).

As usual, we now want to get a copy of the soundtrack so we can sing along – Picard style. Lol!!
